SCF Grants awarded reaches over £2million
Somerset Community Foundation’s latest round of grants has taken the total sum awarded to local community groups to over £2 Million since the charity began in 2002.
One of the groups to benefit from the latest funding and share in this success is South West Fishing For Life which is a club for ladies who are suffering or recovering from breast cancer, proved to be very beneficial to build up muscles and tissue.
The days start with coffee followed by fishing instruction, finishing at lunch time with a fish BQ donated by local fishermen. The group meets monthly at Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor to have fishing lessons from qualified coaches who give their time, equipment and the use of the lake.
The group gives the ladies a new hobby, support, friendship and a great deal of natural medicine in the form of laughter!
The Grant of £3704 will pay for instruction and equipment; Gillian hopes to encourage more members to join the group.
