The Community Cohesion Programme is part of a wider Hinkley Point C Community Fund Strategic Grants Programme.
Strategic grants will target specific impacts felt within Somerset communities as a result of Hinkley Point C. These impacts will be identified through consultation with communities and their representatives as the project progresses. It is likely that priorities within the strategic grants programmes will change as communities change therefore we anticipate it being an iterative process and advise applicants to continue to check the available grants programmes regularly.
What do we mean by Community Cohesion?
Community Cohesion was the first theme that was identified as an impact of the Hinkley Point C development and associated projects. It is a broad ‘umbrella’ term that can be used to describe many aspects of community development and because of this we initially identified two priorities within community cohesion to focus interventions at this time. This had led to a number of applications that are being considered by the Awards Panel at this time. The Community Cohesion theme is now being expanded to include projects schemes and initiatives that will address both the positive and negative impacts on the host and incoming commuinities of increased out of hours social activities.
This is a two stage application process. Initially we invite expressions of interest to be submitted before shortlisting applicants who will be invited to submit a full application.
