Sing for Somerset Success
Sing for Somerset achieved an outstanding attendance of over 900, beating any previous year. From the retiring collection the Foundation raised £2500. The Mid-Somerset Orchestra and Taunton Choral Society, treated the congregation to a festive delight of traditional carols and arrangements including O Little Town of Bethlehem, Wexford Carol (arr. J Rutter) and Silent Night (arr. M. Freke).
The Foundation wishes to thank The Rev. Canon John Simpson, Derek James (The Corporate group) Ian Ball and the Mid-Somerset Orchestra and Taunton Choral Society, everyone from Somerset Life magazine for promoting the event, Peter Rowell, the Chapter of Wells Cathedral and our readers Angela Yeoman, Sue Holmes, Lady Gass, Nicki Lukehurst, Anita Newcombe and Bob Crampton. Without the hard work and commitment of these people the carol service would not have been such an amazing success.
The Foundation is looking forward to the 2008 Sing for Somerset which will be held on Saturday 13th December.
We are grateful to Bardon Aggregates and Wessex Water for their sponsorship and
to Somerset Life and the Corporate Group for their support.
