Sponsor Christmas meals in your community

No one should feel lonely at Christmas. Yet we know that 1 in 6 older people in Somerset often do. Loneliness can affect all of us, but the isolated nature of rural communities and the difficulty of accessing transport means that many of our neighbours find themselves lonely.

As part of our annual Surviving Winter appeal, which provides vital grants to older people living in fuel poverty, we wanted to do more to tackle the isolation that makes Christmas a very difficult time for some of our neighbours.

That's why we created The Festive Fund for Somerset, which last year funded around 40 community Christmas activities, gifts and meals across Somerset.

We know many people won’t be able to come together for a community Christmas meal this year due to coronavirus.

We're offering grants of up to £300 to local charities who can help to bring festive food - and the spirit of Christmas - to people at home or arrange flexible, in-person activities that can be delivered safely within changing coronavirus restrictions.

The Festive Fund for Somerset, a special Somerset Community Foundation initiative, is looking for businesses or individuals who can donate £250 to sponsor Christmas meals in your community. Together, we can make this Christmas merry and brighter for our neighbours.

As a donor, you'll receive a specially created Christmas e-card, personalised with your logo or family name, that you can send to others to celebrate your support.

Donate today and spread some Christmas cheer. You can also email Kelly Hall, Development Manager, if you'd like an invoice to make your donation by BACS.
