SCF match funds donations raised at the first Wells SOUP event
Somerset Community Foundation was delighted to be able of offer match funding against donations made at the inaugural Wells SOUP event, organised by ‘Wells Independents’. Wells SOUP took place on Saturday 16th April in Seager Hall, Union Street, with the audience paying £5 on the door for their chance to hear pitches and then vote for their favourite cause.
Justin Sargent, Chief Executive of SCF, selected four organisations to present to the people attending the lunch in a bid to raise funds. Over 70 people enjoyed a delicious bowl of soup and then voted on the different causes. £340 was raised and doubled by the Somerset Community Foundation to £680 to support:
- Connect Youth, a local youth club
- Wells Vineyards’ ‘Storehouse’ facility, recycling furniture to families in need
- Wells Contemporary Art, bringing modern art to the community
"The range and breadth of needs presented at Wells SOUP should be an inspiration to us all," said Paddy O'Hagan who acted as master of ceremonies.
"Thanks to everyone who came along and the volunteers from Wells Independents who organised the event which was huge fun and a great success."
