Fantastic Opportunity to Join a Unique and Successful Charity and Make a Difference in Somerset
Somerset Community Foundation (SCF) has an exciting opportunity for highly motivated people to join their Board of trustees and the deadline to apply is Sunday 15 October.
Vacancies are available in three specific areas: developing the strategic direction and delivery of grants programmes; promoting SCF’s ‘Inspiring Philanthropy’ role in Somerset; and overseeing the investment of SCF’s £5m endowment fund.*
Somerset Community Foundation was established fifteen years ago, and has to date invested over £7million into local communities by awarding small grants and social investments to grassroots charities, community groups, individuals, and social enterprises. They are managing the £13million Hinkley Point C Community Fund, developed the award-winning Surviving Winter programme, led the £1.5million Somerset Flood Relief Fund appeal, and piloted the innovative Raising Aspirations mentoring project for school pupils, which proved to be incredibly successful at Crispin School in Street, recently, and has also been launched at Taunton School and Court Fields in Wellington.
Justin Sargent, CEO at Somerset Community Foundation said: “Our Board’s commitment to good governance, sound financial management and clear strategic leadership has been the cornerstone of our success so far. We are now looking to recruit up to four key trustee roles, which are essential to our future success, and I look forward to hearing from anyone who shares our passion for Somerset.”
More information for anyone interested in joining SCF’s Board of trustees can be found here.
*Somerset Community Foundation’s endowment fund is co-invested with three other Community Foundations’ funds as part of an overall fund worth more than £30m across three investment managers.
