A simpler way for businesses to give
The Somerset Fund, a new initiative from Somerset Community Foundation (SCF), will help businesses achieve more from their charitable donations, not least through a match funding scheme that could uplift donations by up to 120%.
There are a wide variety of reasons and motivations for companies supporting good causes, but if you are running your business it can be very difficult to give enough time and energy to find the right cause, let alone to follow up and find out how your investment has made a difference.
At the same time, smaller charities and community groups operating in Somerset struggle to raise funds and get support from local businesses in a cost effective way.
Using the knowledge and expertise of Somerset Community Foundation, which has been built up over the past 16 years, The Somerset Fund provides a simple and effective mechanism for businesses to support their local community, reaching the most effective groups that are working at the heart of our local communities – groups that find it hard to compete with ‘big brand’ national charities, yet are tackling issues of national importance right here in Somerset, such as loneliness, mental health in young people, and social mobility.
Through The Somerset Fund, there are also opportunities to engage with charities and explore other ways of supporting their work, while SCF will ensure that you receive clear impact reports on the benefit of your giving, that you can share with colleagues and customers, and gain public recognition of your support.
If all that wasn’t enough, a corporate donation or pledge will also be boosted by at least an 80% uplift. Pledges and donations made before Christmas to help projects tackling the health, well-being and isolation of older people in Somerset will attract an incredible 120% uplift.
