Active Communities Programme applications open
Somerset Community Foundation is delighted to announce it is working in partnership with the People's Health Trust to support groups from specific areas across Somerset in making applications to the Active Communities Programme.
The Active Communities Programme uses money raised by HealthFull, through The Health Lottery, to invest in projects supporting people living in the most disadvantaged areas in Somerset. People living in the poorest areas in Britain die, on average, 7 years younger than people living in the richest areas, and will spend 17 more years living with an extra disability. It is hoped that targeted funding into very specific geographical areas will help to create fairer places to live, and begin to even out this inequality. Grants of between £5,000 and £50,000 are available for groups with an annual income of less than £350,000, who are looking to run projects that will last between 9 months and 2 years.
Somerset Community Foundation is pleased to offer one-to-one advice on the aims of the programme, the application process and eligibility of interested organisations, and will provide feedback on draft applications. There will also be a workshop run by Somerset Community Foundation covering all of the above points and which will be held at Yeoman House – the provisional date for this is Wednesday 4th February, and more information will be available over the next fortnight.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 18 February 2015. If you have any questions, or wish to find out of your geographical location is eligible, please contact Karen Collins or Tessa Hibbert on 01749 344949. Alternatively you can e-mail Karen at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more.
