Somerset Community Foundation is recruiting a new Chairman and Board members

Apr 1, 2015

Ever since we started in 2002 Somerset Community Foundation has benefited enormously from a highly committed Board of Trustees who have freely given their time and shared their skills to help us grow and develop into one of Somerset’s most successful charities. It is a rewarding and fulfilling role that helps us build stronger communities, tackle disadvantage and transform people’s lives throughout Somerset.

As a result of planned succession,  we will have a small number of vacancies on our Board in Autumn 2015. We are, therefore, seeking applications from high calibre individuals to join our Board either as the Chairman or as a trustee to help us achieve our goals to grow through developing a stronger philanthropic base to the Foundation, and increase our impact and leadership roles within Somerset.

The Chairman will lead the Board in setting the Foundation’s strategic direction and working closely with our Chief Executive and major stakeholders to achieve our ambitious plans to increase our impact. More information on the Chairman’s role can be found here.

We also have vacancies for trustees from across Somerset who can assist in one or more of the following areas:

  • philanthropy/major donor development
  • professional private client/financial planning services
  • corporate governance and management
  • grant-making, social investment and/or community development

Trustees commit to attending quarterly meetings (usually held during working hours), usually join at least one of our committees, actively represent the Foundation externally, and provide practical support to the Executive team. A general description of the trustee’s role can be found here.

If you are interested in joining us and making a real difference to the communities and people we support in Somerset then please call our CEO Justin Sargent for an informal discussion on 01749 344949. To apply for either vacancy please email your CV and a covering letter to confirming which role you would be most interested in by 12 noon, May 15th
