Calling community groups and charities in Taunton – grants available NOW from the Mayor’s Fund
Somerset Community Foundation is delighted to announce that the second round of grants are available from the Taunton Deane Mayor’s Fund, following the great success of the first round this spring when 26 groups benefited from funds.
Grants of £500 are available to support community projects in the area that will have a lasting legacy for the residents of Taunton Deane. Over £40,000 has been raised for the Mayor’s Fund through the “Deane Dragons” initiative; curry nights and other fundraising events led by former Mayor Councillor Dave Durdan.
Thirty £500 grants (one for each of the Deane Dragons!) will be awarded to communities throughout the Taunton Deane Borough, and there are also a small number of grants between £1,500 and £2,500 which will be available for larger ‘legacy’ projects.
Somerset Community Foundation are looking for applications that will have a lasting benefit for one or more communities in the Taunton Deane Borough, particularly new equipment or enhancing community buildings and facilities. Examples of projects that may considered include new play park equipment, defibrillators, village hall enhancements, tree planting, allotments and community gardens.
The closing deadline for applications is at noon on Monday 22nd June, and for further details and guidelines on eligibility please contact Programmes Manager Jocelyn Blacker on 01749 344 949, or visit the grants page here.
