Somerset Community Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the Benchmark Fund
Somerset Community Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the Benchmark Fund. Grants will be made to local charities and community groups within Somerset that support vulnerable young people, diverting them from anti-social behaviour and crimes and aiming to enhance their lives.
Benchmark was originally founded in 2010 as the registered charity of Somerset Magistrates, based on the belief that early intervention and the provision of the right sort of diversion can turn around the prospects of young people at risk of a life of crime. The charity has been run by a dedicated group of trustees over the last few years, some of whom will stay on as Benchmark Committee members, networking with magistrates, approving grants and organising fundraising events to support the fund in future.
Applications to the Fund will be open during our next grants round in September. You can find out more information about Benchmark’s history and success to date by visiting their website http://www.benchmark-charity.com/.
The Benchmark Committee invites all magistrates from across the county to get involved in their Fund. If would you would like to volunteer as a Committee member or help to fundraise, please contact Lesley Mackay on firstname.lastname@example.org or Ian Firth on email@example.com.
