Somerset Community Foundation offers a simpler and more effective way for families, companies and trusts to make a lasting difference to our communities. Since we were founded in 2002, we’ve supported hundreds of small charities, voluntary groups and social enterprises in Somerset with funding of more than £7.5 million.
We bring unrivalled local knowledge of local need, and of the charities and community groups that are the lifeblood of our county and that help Somerset to thrive. Every year, we invest in more than 250 local organisations across Somerset that are working tirelessly to improve the lives of local people.
We want to be the catalyst for inspirational philanthropy in Somerset that has the power to transform our communities.
Through the Somerset Philanthropy Network, we’ll build an engaged and connected community of people who are passionate about supporting Somerset. The network will:
Invest in Somerset Community Foundation, helping us to tap into funding and expertise to grow our impact across Somerset
Connect members with Somerset’s most effective organisations on the ground, which have a low profile but a big impact
Innovate by sharing your expertise and insight to help us pioneer new funding models and respond to emerging local need
Join the network
To join the Philanthropy Network, we ask for an annual donation of £1,000 or more, helping us to invest in our growth and development. Our aim is to give members a rewarding and fulfilling experience, including:
- Expert guidance on your personal philanthropy and support to find and engage with local causes that are most important to you in Somerset
- Invitations to ‘Below the Radar’ visits each year to grassroots projects funded by the Foundation
- An annual social dinner offering the chance to network with others who are passionate about Somerset
