Grants up to £1,000 for community groups in Somerset West and Taunton.
Next deadline: 20 March 2020
The Local Community Fund, which is administered by Somerset Community Foundation on behalf of Somerset West and Taunton Council, distributes funds raised from the Somerset West Lottery.
Set up to support community projects in the local area, the Somerset West Lottery operates on the principle of raising money within the community for the community. It enables people to support the causes they care most about, helping good causes to connect with their supporters.
A ticket for the Somerset West Lottery costs £1 per week and 60p will go directly to good causes, which is more than double what the National Lottery gives. Players can choose to support a named local good cause or they can decide to award their contribution to the Local Community Fund. Grants are then awarded from the Fund by a Panel of District Councillors.

How much is available?

How long are grants for?
We expect grants to be spent within 12 months of the award date. We’ll ask you to submit a short report back to us within six weeks of the end of your grant. Reminders and a report form will be emailed to you.
What do we want to fund?
We can award grants for most types of community activity or project, including core costs, run by local organisations. However, we stress that your application must be clear about the difference you will make to the people you help as a result of your work (“outcomes”). If you are unsure what we mean by this, please contact us.
How do I make an application?
We encourage all applicants to use our online application form, which can be accessed using the link below. This form allows you to save draft versions of your application and return to it later (via an email link sent to your inbox).
The form requires you to complete a series of questions about your group and your project, including your budget. You will also be asked to provide a referee (if you have not received a grant from us in the last three years) and upload supporting documents.
