The Somerset Disaster Recovery Fund was established at the close of the public appeal for support of the Somerset Flood Relief Fund on the 1st August 2014. Our appeal for the floods was enormously successful, and we felt that we raised enough money to help flood-affected communities in Somerset increase their resilience and recovery from the crisis as best we could.
All new and unexpected donations to the fund after the 1st August 2014 will be directed to the Somerset Disaster Recovery Fund.
Somerset Disaster Recovery Fund is used to:
- Provide grants to community groups that want to strengthen their communities' preparedness for and resilience against future episodes of flooding or other natural disasters (ex. volunteer management training).
- Provide emergency relief grants to people who experience hardship due to future episodes of flooding or other natural disasters.
