The Mulberry Somerset Community Fund
Mulberry partnered with SCF to launch The Mulberry Somerset Community Fund in 2021, building on a long history of supporting small, local charities. Their Fund supports a wide range of good causes across the county and has awarded over £35,000 of grants since it was launched.
The Mulberry team in Somerset have their own Charity Committee involved in choosing projects to support from nominations made by SCF. They’re also an adventurous team who have taken on a number of challenges to raise money for their Fund, including two Three Peaks Challenges.
Rosie Wollacott Phillips, Head of Sustainability at Mulberry, said: “Our partnership with Somerset Community Foundation and the creation of our own Mulberry Somerset Community Fund has been a great way for us to have a broad impact in our community.”
Laura Blake, Philanthropy Director at Somerset Community Foundation, added: “We’re incredibly proud to be working in partnership with Mulberry, who are really leading the way as a socially responsible business in all they do, including through their charitable and community support.”
Making Space Wells is a volunteer-run, community-based, non-profit making organisation formed in 2021. Crafting skills are shared and individuals can take part in collaborative community craft events, addressing loneliness and isolation, which in turn improves mental health and wellbeing. The group was recently awarded a grant from The Mulberry Somerset Community Fund.
Sarah Briton from the group explained: “Over the past few years we’ve watched the opportunities available for folk here in Wells to engage in adult education and craft activities diminish. At Making Space Wells we wanted to change that. We’re demonstrating that in providing a warm welcoming environment with people willing to share skills the learning just happens, fun happens and friendships happen too.”
