Apply for a bursary

We give out bursaries to help with the cost of attending university or towards an educationally related activity.

Our money isn’t in one big fund, because it comes from lots of different places. So, if you want to ask us for money, you need to use the list below to decide which fund you should apply to. If you’re not sure about something, then ask us.

Bishop Fox’s Educational Foundation

Are you between 11 and 24 years old?
Do you need financial help to achieve your goals?
Do you live or go to school in the former Borough of Taunton Deane (or are you a university student with local connections)?

Eagle House Trust

Now closed to applications.
Apply for a university bursary if you are entering the first year of an undergraduate course at a UK university in the forthcoming academic year, are aged 18-24 years, and have received significant support from Children’s Services in either Somerset, Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire.
Bursaries of up to £1,500 per year for up to 3 years.

Dyke Exhibition

Now closed to applications.
Apply for a university bursary here if you are entering the first year of an undergraduate course at Oxford or Cambridge university in the forthcoming academic year and are aged 18-24 years. You will need to meet the eligibility criteria which covers Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

Bursaries of up to £500 per year for up to 3 years.

Hobhouse Memorial Trust

Now closed to applications.
You will be able to apply for a university bursary here if you are entering the first year of an undergraduate course at a UK university in the forthcoming academic year and are aged 18-24 years. You will need to meet the eligibility criteria which the former Somerset district areas of Mendip and South Somerset.
Bursaries of up to £500 per year for up to 3 years.

Yeovil Educational Trust 

Now closed to applications.

You can ask for a university or educational activity bursary between £200 and £2,000 from here if:

  • you are 16 to 25 years old
  • your family income is below £35,000
  • you live in the parishes of Yeovil Without, Yeovil Town, Mudford, Chilthorne Domer, East Coker, West Coker, Limington, Barwick and Brympton
Bursaries of up to £2,000.
