ALIGNING OUR WORK WITH THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS.

Along with our own research and insight, the SDGs provide us with a framework to help guide how we distribute funding to our communities and capture the difference our funding makes.

The SDGs help us to support very localised projects that address common global challenges and ambitions.

As a Community Foundation, it’s in our nature to think globally, but act locally. This approach also helps us achieve our mission to help passionate people in Somerset change the world on their doorstep.

Thinking globally, acting locally.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, is a global commitment to end poverty, promote peace, share wealth and protect the planet.

It is based on 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs recognise that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

By aligning the work we fund locally with the SDGs, we align our work with the common aim of achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
