Working in partnership to support Old Mill’s clients

Old Mill have worked in partnership with SCF since 2019, when we helped them launch The Old Mill Fund. The Fund, which we manage on their behalf, makes strategic donations to support local charities across Somerset, Wiltshire and Devon and has awarded funding of over £50,000 so far.

We’ve also built close relationships with the firm’s Financial Planning Team, who have referred a number of clients to SCF for philanthropic advice. Paula Hodge, Partner and Head of Financial Planning, worked with SCF to help one of her clients create their own Charitable Fund in 2023.

“For us, we want to be able to be able to accommodate all of our clients wishes offering them an easy and seamless route to rounded philanthropic advice both from a theoretical and practical perspective.

What we value about SCF is being able to bring in a philanthropic specialist that we trust, have a relationship with and where we genuinely believe in the work they’re doing.

I like that SCF will have an honest conversation with our clients about philanthropy at a more general level, helping them understand the wider landscape and the differences between going it alone or giving through an organisation like SCF, so they can decide upon the best solution for them.

Charitable giving can be one of the most rewarding outcomes of a client’s long term financial goals but for many, putting a charitable giving plan in place can be overwhelming in terms of where to start. Being able to hand over the due diligence, ongoing management and administration to philanthropic experts is extremely reassuring for both us and the client. We regard our relationship with SCF as very much an integral part of our Wealth Management Proposition.

Working with SCF is very much a partnership and we know we can trust the team to deliver a timely and professional service to our clients, providing wise counsel on all matters related to chartable giving.”
